Very good pickups, very bright and 'stratty'. Beautiful installation, no soldering needed. Just a screwdriver.

When I ordered my first one the neck pickup wasn't working, but I sent it back and Thomann replaced it with no hassle. I have had it for about a year now and its still going strong. Very happy.

Das Mojotone 58 Quiet Coil HSS Pickguard BK, ich nenne es ab jetzt "das Teil", hatte ich mir in verschiedenen YT-Vids angeschaut und nicht zuletzt wegen der einfachen Installation bestellt. In den Demo-Videos hieß es immer, dass das Teil einfach einzusetzen sei, teilweise wurde von fünf Minuten gesprochen, und man danach losrocken könne. Ein Grund für meine Bestellung war auch, dass man die PUs über einen sogenannten Blender-Knob in den Stellungen 1, 2, 4 und 5 zusammenschalten kann und den Humbucker an der Bridge splitten.

Beim Einbau des Teils einige Tage später stellte ich fest, dass das Teil leider nicht in ein paar Minuten einzubauen war, da es bei meiner Squier Affinity Strat erhebliche Platzprobleme unter dem Pickguard gab. Deswegen das "Achtung!" in der Überschrift. Ich musste also Platz schaffen. Schlussendlich bekam ich das Teil eingebaut und es funktionierte.

Zum Sound: Ich bin kein Profi, war jedoch enttäuscht, dass die von mir erwartete Klangvielfalt (immerhin neun verschiedene Sound-Optionen) nicht das erwünschte Ergebnis brachte. Vom "Attack" und der Dynamik her gab es nichts auszusetzen, aber irgendwie klangen die PUs bei den verschiedenen Einstellungen zu indifferent. Ich war fast geneigt, mich damit abzufinden. Jedoch stellte sich nach wenigen Tagen ein Defekt beim Blender-Regler ein. Der Humbucker blieb in der Stellung 1 tot. Es ging nur noch der Bridge-PU als Single Coil. Das erleichterte mir letztlich die Entscheidung, das Teil zurückzusenden.

Die US-Strat ist nun brummfrei

Ein gutes Replacement-Pickguard für jede Strat, leichte Abstriche gibt es beim Sound und der Verarbeitung. Während es bei der Elektronik nichts zu kritisieren gibt (sehr gute CTS-Potis, Schalter etc.), ist das Pickguard selbst sehr kratzempfindlich. Der Humbucker gefällt mir ausgesprochen gut und harmoniert auch mit den beiden Single Coils, die aber im Vergleich zu sehr guten "nicht-noiseless" Pickups etwas farbloser klingen, ähnlich wie die Fender Noiseless. Die Schaltung mit dem Blendregler ist sehr clever und ermöglicht sehr viele Sound-Möglichkeiten.
