Zoom H5

I bought the Zoom H5 due to it being advertised as a good all rounder for recording and audio interface. Recording works wonders. The audio interface with USB-connection is unacceptably bad. It simply does not work.

If you're planning to buy it as a field recorder, it's very much what it says it'll do. But for studio interface, you should probably look for something else. H6 or some other manufacturer.

Points for Thomann with the returning system and handling of all orders. 6/5. Would order again.

Zoomin SD-pesät tuppaa napsuttelemaan korttien lukitus-salpoja välillä omassa käytössä poikki (tapahtunut eri nauhureilla kolmesti noin kuuden vuoden käytössä) tuosta miinus työnjälkeen. Äänenlaatu on laitteen hintaan nähden erinomainen, toki etarit vois aina olla vähän parempia. Kätevänä kenttänauhurina kuitenkin aivan kelpo peli.

I use the H5 to record mostly acoustic live concerts using just the supplied X/Y capsule. In addition you could use additional microphones to get more options. I have also recorded solo electric and acoustic guitar music using additional close mics while letting the mics of H5 handle the room sound. In these simple studio and live situations the H5 performs well. The preamps have much better sound quality than the previous models. An USB adaptor was not included in my purchase.
