Better than I expected

Since this is my first lute and I have nothing else to compare it to, I really can’t comment OBJECTIVELY on it’s tone. Still, I’ll say it sounds and feels better than I expected for the really cheap price (hand-made lutes cost several thousands of euros).

My only real complaint would be the use of synthetic frets, which has a few drawbacks.

an excellent deal

Well, the only way to get a genuine 8 string renaissance lute, was to spend thousands to get a custom built one. Until now! Thomann supplied a quality instrument for the money, well made and sounds great, plus you get a quality padded gigbag. Even to get exactly the same instrument, from a luthier, would cost 3 or 4 times as much. A fascinating instrument for the price of a decent guitar.

Disappointed by the overall instrument.

It is very hard to tune this lute because the pegs do not stay in place. You have to push it very hard and even so, it won't stay much in tune. The sound isn't great either. Honestly for the practicality it shouldn't be more 100$. You can buy guitars at 100$ that will sound divine compared to this lute... I think I will have to return it!

Impossible to tune and poorly constructed

I purchased this expecting while not a perfect instrument, at least something that could hold a tune for more than a few seconds. The pegs slip constantly or are otherwise stiff, a fret is placed in the wrong place and the instrument is completely unplayable. I am extremely disappointed since I expected something a lot more from thomann. Will most likely be returning if I can't get it set up
