I purchased this pad for using at home or outside in a park. It is a bit smaller than I expected, but it does the job in my case. I suppose a slightly bigger pad would be more comfortable, but this is definitely more portable. Just put it on your knee and you don't need anything else (except the sticks)!
The pad has a decent bouncing feel, not too much, not too little. It has average volume as well.
One problem is that you have to pull your arms back when playing due to the pad's position in relation to your own body. This is a bit uncomfortable. Once again, it is a compromise between portability and comfort. So go for it if simplicity and mobility are your priorities. Otherwise, pick a non-knee-bound model.
