Close but no cigar
Great sounding modeler that is extremely easy to use. The UI is the best I've ever seen!! I'm no hero when it comes to programming these things but I didn't even need to see a manual before starting using the unit - it really is that intuitive! Sound quality is very good and effects sound pristine. Quite heavy so if you gig you'd definately want the Helix backpack which is of high build quality and has plenty of storage for cables and such.

Great Sound and Lots of Flexibility
I bought Helix as an alternative to a computer and/or stomp boxes amps to use on live gigs.
Now when I have it, I actually find it very useful also working as an addition to computer and stomps - it can bind them all together with it's flexible routing options and many inputs/outputs.
All the modeling and the sounds are very good and convincing.
If you're used to playing with a loud guitar amp on stage rather than direct, then the best results come using a power amp with a full range speaker.
Helix can be used as an USB audio interface for recording, which gives you the possibility to record the dry signal too.
I mainly use it with another interface (RME) though as I get a bit lower latency with that.
Another strength of Helix is it's ease of use, preset editing, especially now that it has got also a computer editor.
The switches work nice and they have editable "names" above them and customisable LED rings that help with recognizing them.
One minor issue for me was a squeaky expression pedal, which I corrected by adding some grease.
The overall experience for me has been positive, but it's a good idea to ask around at the forums, as there have been some quality issues, bugs as well as misunderstandings of the devices capabilities.
