Buy it when it's available!
Never wanted a Tele. I was aiming to buy a Player+ Strat or a Meteora.
I don't know why I ended up browsing Telecasters, but rest is history. I tried to quench my thirst for a new guitar by buying this cheap well reviewed guitar. Liked the color, liked the no hassle bridge, thought I can always exchange parts I did not like later.
Now, a year and a half later, no parts exchanged and this basically the only guitar I play. Is it perfect? Definitely not. Is it really nice? Oh yes!
To the serious part:
Pros:
- It's a real Tele
- Really nice to play
- The one I got had a nice setup from the box
- Loud even without an amp
- Inspired a non-Tele guy to find out it is the kind of guitar I want
- Made me play a huge variety of different stuff
- Scary looking tuners have performed outstandingly well
- The neck is pure love
- I love the looks
Cons:
- It is not expensive, the praise I give is partially relative to the price
- Neck pickup performs really nice, otherwise the sound is a bit too shrill for me
- Intonation can be a bit wonky (really just a tiny bit though). I think it's the saddles.
- The switch and the pots scare me, but they do perform well for now
- You must understand the pickups are NOT noiseless at all!
Uses:
Perfect practice guitar! Should be decent for band practice. Would need to use my head to find a way to use it for bigger gigs with the pre-installed pickups.
Verdict:
Buy it, you will like it!
A multifunctional Swiss Army Knife for pennies.
Paid triple the price for my first guitar, and it did not feel as good as this.
Just don't expect it to be a 2000€ guitar, and you will not be too disappointed.
The only "real con" in my opinion is the bridge pickup, but it might be wonderfully sharp and bright for someone else.
If you have the money, stop thinking and let loose. I've spent hundreds of hours with this for a small fee and I feel like I have been spoiled by the price/quality ratio.
