Harley Benton Parts Fret Wire Narrow SS20

The price was simply too tempting, I had to give these a try. Unfortunately it seems you get what you pay for here.

My new guitar has a zero fret, and that's what gives the low quality of the material away: after only about 7-8 months of being stringed and not even played a whole lot, the zero fret has already developed sharp grooves under the G and B strings! The open G-string started to buzz last week, right before a gig, revealing the horror. This simply should not happen so soon using stainless steel fretwire. Not even using nickel-silver! And yet, this stuff was still slightly harder to install than nickel-silver frets, and also harder on tools.

All the other frets on my guitar are fine, but who knows for how long. I might replace only the zero fret just to find out, but on the other hand it's very tempting to just pull them out and put proper fretwire in just to be safe.

I wonder if this is the same stuff Harley Benton puts on their guitars with stainless steel frets...

Un peu compliqué à travailler car plus rigide que les grandes marques bizarrement, il faut donc de la bonne lime pour travailler cet inox.
Prévoir une bonne tenaille ou bonne scie également pour les habitués du laiton ou maillechort.
Ces frettes tiennent bien et son faciles à planifier, par contre, j'ai triché en mattant un peu de colle au fond des entailles pendant l'installation car le format narrow rend la tâche assez délicate quand on a l'habitude du jumbo.
