The most value-for-money Les Paul, but the quality...

This version of the Les Paul Studio is the most value-for-money US-made Les Paul you can currently get. This was my first Gibson ever, as I wasn't that interested in its sounds in the past, so when I saw this one available here, I pulled the trigger, since it was at a reasonable price point, for my situation at least.

In terms of sound, the guitar is phenomenal. The PAF sound is truly unique and cannot be understated. It sounds incredible with fuzz, in my opinion. The tone controls also give you options for jazz etc. The guitar is inherently noisy with a lot of gain when you're not touching any of the metal parts, but that's what you get when Gibson's sticking with tradition.

The features of this Studio are essentially the coil tap and the weight relief routing on the body. The coil tap is a welcome addition, although I don't think people will use it much, but the weight reduction is a big deal, as the guitar becomes surprisingly lightweight, especially for a Les Paul.

The negatives come in the form of quality. Three of the knobs were so loose, they'd fall off when I wasn't looking down. I had to wrap masking tape around the pots and put the knobs back on. For a US-made guitar, this is not good. In addition, I took the pickguard off for aesthetic reasons, and there are obvious imperfections on the finish around the screw holes.

All in all, it's a great guitar, although they could've paid attention to the knobs and insulate the cavities to make it a little more quiet. For the money, it's a great workhorse Les Paul.

This is my first Gibson guitar and where I live Gibson isn’t stocked in stores, so I can’t compare to other models, but I can say that I’m in love with this guitar. I always wanted a gold top standard. The studios always looked great, but the colours didn’t do it for me, so when I saw this, I jumped. The natural reveal binding effect of the maple cap makes up for the no body binding. Well made, sounds and feels fantastic and I really don’t have a complaint. Also, tracking wasn’t so good on other apps, but Thomann website updated every step of the delivery process, so well done Thomann too!
I am one very happy camper <3

Une Les Paul qui a tout d'une grande

Je rêvais depuis longtemps d'une Les Paul 60's en finition Gold Top. Ce n'était pas au programme de Gibson apparement. Thomann a eu une excellente idée de faire une édition limitée de la Studio en gold top. J'en suis extrêmement satisfait. Le son est top, la qualité de finition impeccable, et qu'est-ce qu'elle est belle! Elle est d'ailleurs plus belle en vrai que sur les photos. Extrêmement satisfait de mon achat. Je trouve même que le fait qu'il n'y ai pas de binding blanc en plastique la rend plus élégante.

Exklusivmodel als Goldtop (selten bei einer Studio). Lackierung 1A(ich konnte auch bei intensiver Suche keine Fehler finden), Grundeinstellung der Gitarre ist ebenso sehr gut.
Den mitgelieferten "Poker-Chip" habe ich am Toggle-Switch montiert, da ich diesbezüglich eher den traditionellen Look mag. Das Schlagbrett habe ich entfernt, ich bevorzuge es ohne Schlagbrett zu spielen, aber auch darunter war absolut kein Lackfehler zu finden, so soll es sein, top.
Die Potis laufen perfekt, nicht zu leicht, aber auch nicht zu schwer. Push/Pull der Pickups wertet die Gitarre ebenso zusätzlich auf, wie auch das Hals-Binding. Um den Korpus herum ersetzt die vom Mahagoni-Korpus farblich abgesetzte Ahorn-Decke das Binding, was optisch sehr gelungen ist.
Die Burstbucker Pro klingen verdammt gut, sowohl clean(sehr sauber und feinfühlig) als auch verzerrt klingen die PU´s extrem gut. Jede gespielte Nuance kommt sauber durch. Der Hals lässt sich meines Empfindens nach sehr gut bespielen.
Auch die "Gibson Deluxe"-Mechaniken sind sehr stimmstabil und runden den Look des Instruments ab.

Rundum eine Les Paul die locker mit teureren Modellen von Gibson mithält. Verarbeitung insgesamt top.

Wer es noch ein wenig hochwertiger mag, bestellt sich nachträglich einen passendes Case, allerdings ist die mitgelieferte Tasche auch sehr gut, extrem gut gepolstert, die Les Paul wird auch darin anständig aufbewahrt.

Danke auch nochmal an Thomann für die sehr gute und sehr freundliche Beratung sowohl Online(Chat) als auch telefonisch nach Aufgabe der Bestellung. Zwei Tage nach Bestellung ist die Goldtop bei mir eingetroffen, dafür beide Daumen hoch!
