Behringer VD400

Tämän halvemmalla ei hardware-effuja paljon voi hankkia saatikka valmistaa. Behringer osaa halvalla valmistamisen taidon ja usein yllättää positiivisesti laitteidensa uskolliset (?) käyttäjät.

VD400 tarjoaa klassiset viivekaiut edullisessa paketissa. Formaatti on kalliimpien valmistajien valikoimista tuttu, yksinkertainen ja helppokäyttöinen pedaali. Fyysisesti pedaali tuntuu hintaansa nähden todella kestävältä käsissä - tai oikeammin jaloissa.

Viiveprosessorin ei tarvitse yleensä tarjota väriä soundiin, eikä tämäkään sanottavammin niin tee. Intensiteettiä säätämällä voi tunnistaa Virtualizerista tuttuja sävyjä. Perushyviä kaikualgoritmeja kuten Behringerillä on tapana tarjota.

Laite ei ole omassa käytössäni ehtiny hajota, mutta Behringerin tusinatuotannossa voisi maanantaikappaleetkin olla oletettavia. Itselläni kuitenkin Behringerin kaikki laitteet ovat palvelleet hyvin eikä laiterikkoja ole sattunut.

Annan hintalaatusuhteelle viisi tähteä viidestä, vaikka tälläinen arkisen tylsä kapistus ei paljon muita tunteita herätäkään.

Specs give a max of 300ms delay time but I'm pretty sure mine gives more like 450-550ms at the slowest rate - haven't checked but often delay pedals have an internal trim pot for adjustment of max delay. At the extereme settings the sound gets really crunchy though and not very usable other than for special effect.

Within the specified 300ms range it sounds about as good as any basic analog delay I've had. They all have their character mostly depending on the filtering etc. and an analog delay is always a compromise with the repeats. The Behringer does fine here. Has significantly less noise than the vintage (cheap brand) Japanese pedal I replaced with it.

Self-oscillates nicely with it's own distinctive character. Edge of oscillation sounds are good. Build quality is what it is, I don't think the plastic case is a problem per se, but the way the mechanism / hinge is built gives me some doubt about longevity. Time will tell if that's going to be an actual issue. Pots etc. feel very solid and precise.

300ms for delay is pretty limiting in what you can use it for, but that's what most classic analog delays gave you to work with. A proper analog delay at this price seems like a no brainer for anyone wanting to try one out, or for someone who is looking for a 2nd/3rd delay for cheap. It's not built like a workhorse but for most people that's probably not going to be an issue. I've had cheaper feeling plastic pedals last me a good 25 years and still going strong...
