Walrus Audio Slöer Ambient Reverb Black

The Slöer is an amazing device for crafting ambiances from street corner echoes to a horizon-enveloping washes. Probably not for everyone due to being "unnatural" and lacking the more standard room/plate/hall reverbs, but who cares about that when you got the five programs here with additional parameters to tweak the sound of your dreams out of this tiny black box. Quality build, quality handling, get one if it interests you even remotely. Zero regrets

If truly breathtaking ambient reverb is what you´re looking for, this is the Holy Grail.
Immersive, endlessly evolving reverberation with lush organic lo-fi modulation that transforms any sound into beautiful multi-textural soundscapes!
I use the Slöer on the line-out of my Hydrasynth (ASM) synthesizer which is utilized for my ambient electronic music productions.
I have to mention that the Slöer produces an incredibly wide stereo field, so beautiful it´s almost mesmerizing.

The pedal came to me with one knob completely detached which is a shame for a Walrus Audio product. Luckily the tiny allen screw was loose in the box and I had a small allen key to screw it back, so this problem was fixed.

Lastly this pedal is made sturdy like a tank - all its parts are made of metal and it "reeks" of high-quality components.

Ho avuto praticamente tutti i riverberi top.
Questo sloer potrebbe essere tra i migliori.
Ha un suono sempre spaziale e psichedelico.
Forse troppo modulato...chorus/vibrato potrebbero sembrare un po' invadenti nella Modalità Dream (che è la funzione probabilmente migliore per avere un riverbero base.
Il problema è che, a differenza dello Slö, anche col decay al minimo il riverbero resta sempre troppo ampio e non si riesce praticamente mai ad avere un suono "normale" appena accennato.

Modalità Rain aggiunge un delay con ripetizioni più o meno marcate a seconda dell'impostazione X

Modalità Rise aggiunge uno swell ma onestamente non l'ho approfondita perché non m'interessa.

Modalità Light è uno shimmer ma diverso da quello che siamo abituati a sentire, ad esempio, da Strymon.
Qui siamo in un mondo stupendo con sottofondo di cori angelici, quasi da sigla di Twin Peaks.

Modalità Dark con la sua ottava bassa è il vero colpo di genio di Walrus.
Solo questa vale il pedale.

Però alla fine l'ho reso.

Perché?
Perché sono pazzo?
No... questo pedale (forse sfortunato io, molto sfortunato) è difettoso.

Ne ho ordinato uno...arrivato e suonava benissimo ma... il selettore MODE invertiva le Modalità.
Se selezionavo DREAM suonava DARK, se selezionavo DARK suonava LIGHT ecc
Avrei anche potuto tenerlo ma, se un domani avessi voluto rivenderlo, avrei dovuto svalutarlo molto.

Allora lo rendo e ne ordino un altro.
Anche questo arrivato con lo stesso identico problema.
Scrivo a Thomann, faccio video per fare vedere il difetto, ma niente.

Me lo fanno ovviamente rendere ma dicono che secondo i tecnici "è una caratteristica dello sloer bk" .
Faccio notare che blue e Black sono identici e cambia solo la grafica.
Poi l'ho chiusa così.
Probabilmente c'è un carico di sloer bk difettosi ma non lo capiscono.
Due sloer ordinati in due giorni ed entrambi difettosi: l'ho interpretato come un segnale divino ed ho preso il Meris Mercury7 che era l'altro riverbero che avevo nel cuore. Ed ora sono molto contento.

Spiace solo che Thomann abbia ignorato la mia segnalazione del difetto.

Per il resto il pedale è davvero molto bello ma, se volete salvare un preset come riverbero standard tipo ampli Fender, potreste fare fatica.
