I had my doubts when I first read about the Ton Kooiman Etude 3 thumb rest. Now I have none!

It was easier to install than I had thought: just screw the old of and the new on. It has enough adjustment to comply to any user's needs.

It is very comfortable to use and now my right hand can be used solely for playing, no more need to hold the clarinet in place, the instrument just 'hangs' on there. This thumb rest gives more freedom to play than a neck strap.

Highly recommended!

I have struggled for years with poor thumb position when playing clarinet, and since starting music college have started to suffer pain when playing. This thumb rest has changed all of this as it is very comfortable and supports your thumb whilst also letting your fingers rest in the correct position. It was very easy to fit, and whilst"snapping" the thumb rest on / off can be a little disconcerting at first, you soon get used to this.

This won't fit your Thomann beginner Clarinet

I wish I could review this but I'll have to wait a bit. Meanwhile I think people who bought a Startone beginner Clarinet here could benefit from this info : this item probably fits most clarinets but apparently the Startone series - or at least my SCLK-25 model - doesn't use standard screws (neither in size nor in placement) so you'll have to have this fitted by a professional.
NB : I realize this is not a review but, if you remove it, maybe this can be mentioned in the product description ?

Overall, this is a great product. I was initially concerned that installing it might require drilling new holes for the mounting, but fortunately, everything worked out without any modifications.

However, it took me some time to get used to it. It changes the balance of the instrument in your hand, and, for example, playing high C felt quite unusual at first. It also changes the position of the right hand, so it takes some time to adjust. In the beginning, playing felt a bit uncomfortable.

After about a week of playing, though, I came to appreciate it and now find it much more comfortable than a standard thumb rest. I would definitely recommend trying it before buying, as I think it may not be the right fit for everyone.
