Omassa laudassani on useita säröjä ja särön asteita hieman yliajetusta lowgainista aina highgainiin ja fuzziin asti. Tarvitsin särön, joka olisi viimeinen ketjussa ennen modulaatioefektejä ja kaikuja. Tämän vuoksi siinä olisi oltava riittävästi alapäätä, toisin sanoen bassosäädin. Dark Matterissa on tehokas eq basso- ja treble-taajuuksille. Sen gain-alue ulottuu miedosta reunasäröstä voimakkaaseen overdriveen ja distortioniin asti. Pedaali käyttäytyy vahvistinmaisesti ja kuulosta hyvältä myös miedoilla säröasetuksilla. Bassoäänien puutteestä kärsivän, vahvasti keskialueita korostavan Boss Superovern kanssa Dark Matter käyttäytyy fuzzamaisesti. Särö on tyyliltään melko geneerinen, jonka vuoksi äänelle vain neljä tähteä. Omassa käytössäni Dark Matter ajaa asiansa listavasti!

TC Eelectronic tends to build pedals with good quality and very reasonable price tag, and this is no exception. What has been perhaps slightly botched is the marketing. When buying a Dark Matter distortion, you might expect some ultra-heavy, senseless gain range core / djent capabilities out of it. Instead you get something that may suit more in the 80s style sounds with pretty moderate gain.

The pedal itself is well built, has very decent amount of control over sound, and most importantly the gain structure itself is good. It plays nice with other gain type pedals, both boosting others or getting boost - there is headroom into it. But, like said, by itself especially it has its limits in how "heavy" a sound you can produce with it.

Personally it ended up recycled after a couple years of infrequent use. On a clean channel it didn't produce sounds I was particularly after, and used as a boost for dirty channel or other dirt pedal it did pretty good jobs with my tool combinations, but I had the same or better effect with another solutions and pedals.

For someone who's new into a world of moderate gain distortion, definitely get this; it is versatile, well built and cheap, and you can get a lot of mileage from it as a low gain boost pedal even after you've found your THE distortion unit. This is also a good option for turning about any amp into something in the lines of 80s Hard Rock / Hair Metal machine. Just don't expect a gain monster straight out of the box due to the name of the pedal.

The product label says distortion, but this one can do overdrive as well. You can still hear what your guitar sounds like with the pedal turned on.

Dark matter retains the low end well. Cleans up well with lower gain settings, and when rolling off volume from guitar, even with higher gain settings.

Friend told me this doesn't go well with other pedals, but I have to disagree. I got this on board with zen drive clone, RAT 2, and Ibanez mini fuzz OD850.

Works well in our testing for guitars, and quick run with analog synth, got my friend to order this to go with Neutron.

Rockia? Metallia? Jotain siltä väliltä? Jos ensimmäistä säröpedaalia näihin musiikkityyleihin, niin tällä pedaalilla on hyvä lähteä liikenteeseen. Tällä saa tuotettua mukavaa kevyttä rock saundia ja raskaampaa metallisäröä. Säädöt on laajat säröpedaaliksi ja sopii hyvin myös muiden säröjen/efektien kanssa soitettavaksi.

Poljin on hivenen kevyen oloinen, voi olla että se voi ajan saatossa kärsiä jos liian kovaa polkee. Muut nupit ovat kuitenki laadukkaan oloiset ja selkeät käyttää. Pisteet TC:n pojilla fiksusta pohjakanssi sulkmista, jonka avulla takakannen saa auki vaikkapa kahden euron kolikolla.

Jos jotain moitittavaa keksii niin ehkä se on pedaalin saundi. Kannattaa kuunnella videoista , miltä pedaali kuulostaa. Saundi voi olla liikan kevyt soittajan makuun tai liian köyhä. Mutta näin halvaksi pedaaliksi saundi on erittäin hyvä. Jos saundi ei ole mieleen, niin häviö ei ole suuri. Pedaali on kuitenki suosittu kapistus joten sen saa varmasti myytyä eteenpäin jos tulee katuma päälle.

I use this as my main distortion in rehearsals and gig situations. I really like the tone you can get out of it and for the price you get really nice sounds from it. Two band EQ to add/remove bass and treble is a nice plus even tho sometimes this pedal is a bit haggling on the trebles, meaning that leads won't push through quite as clearly without a separate booster for it but that is remediable easily.

I enjoy the simplicity and it seems sturdy enough, would recommend to anyone who needs a desent metal/hard rock pedal for nice tones, Im looking for a sound quite reminiscent to that of Blood Mountan era Mastodon and this achieves it quite nicely.
