Similar to S80 but slightly rounder tone

I was looking for an 'upgrade' from my S80 mostly out of curiosity because there isn't anything wrong with the Selmer S80.
Both mpcs are of a certain type, i.e long shank, small to medium chamber and this type is easy to keep in tune and they produce a smooth, homogenous sound.
The differences from the S80 that I noticed were that the Soloist has a thicker tone and is less projecting. It is also slightly harder to play and I had to move to a slightly softer reed, probably temporarily. I attribute this to the fact that the Soloist has a low baffle.
I recommend both the S80 and the Soloist for those who play in wind bands or chamber type ensembles or who do not need especially high volume or projection. (That said, the Soloist used to be popular with jazz players of the past) They are a very safe choice and there is a reason why they are both classic mouthpieces.

Ansprache und Sound sehr gut in Verbindung mit Harry Hartmann Fiberreed Carbon MS, mit Alexander 1,5 oder AW Reed Nr 722 auch gut, aber nicht so brilliant. Spielt vor allem die tiefen Bereiche voll und satt und macht richtig Spaß bei freiem Spiel (auch bei Oktavsprüngen). Ist zur Zeit mein Lieblingsmundstück, gefolgt vom Zinner 62C und einem alten (Keilwerth- oder No name-) Mundstück.

Buena calidad y lo que esperaba de ella

La calidad de fabricación es muy buena. La compré para sustituir a la C* y que tuviera algo más de sonido. La uso para tocan en banda de música y el timbre es pefecto. Es muy fácil emitir el sonido con suavidad.

Je joue avec un saxophone ténor Thomann MK IV handmade. Je l'ai équipé du bec Selmer soloist D. C'est un bec très polyvalent qui me permet de jouer du blues, du jazz, de la variété avec beaucoup de facilité aussi bien dans les graves que dans les aigus. J'utilise des anches Rico royale 3 et j'obtiens une sonorité excellente. C'est un bon rapport qualité/prix
