I bought this to replace FR Special, that came with my Jackson Soloist SLX.
Cavity was bit tight on two points for Schaller, as its knife edges are tiny bit(about 1mm) longer than on FR.

I removed wood from tight spots (just a little from cavity's edges), and now it fits perfectly.

Not sure, if that cavity tightness appears only on Jackson models.
But anyway, to make sure, take first measurements to see, how it would fit.

Also the brass block is long one(42mm), which I had to machine down to 32mm, otherwise it would protrude from the back of my guitar.
Easier way could be to puchase separate block, that suit ones guitar.

To find out, what size block one's tremolo has, it's usually marked on the block, and can be seen, when pushing the tremolo arm way down.

Reason I ended up buying this, is that FR Special has string retainers made of some soft metal(zinc?), and it's very frustrating to have string(s) popping out, when doing heavy bendings.

Conclusion:

- In some guitars, it may require some fiddling to make it fit

+ Finishing and overall quality of this tremolo is superb
+ Increased sustain
+ It literally feels rock solid
+ Pricing is spot on

Durable and smooth but not as nice as a gotoh because the parts are cast

The parts are cast, not machined. This makes it a bit rough. However the knife edges are made of hardened steel inserts. In my opinion this is the best way to do it. On top of that it has a nice chunky brass sustain block. Good trem overall for a good price. Only 4 stars on quality because of the casting.

There’s not much to say about the Schaller Floyd Rose tremolo — it’s one of the highest-quality ones on the market. I’ve had it for years, the guitar is always in tune, and I’ve never had any issues.
Highly recommended.
