Fantastinen rottalaatikko
Vähän pelonsekaisin tuntein testasin Proco rattia, mutta tämä sai kuin saikin suupielet korviin. Olen soittanut 80-lukulaisella Rat 2:lla ennenkin ja ainoa ero tässä vanhaan on made in china.

The Legend and for a reason
The ProCo Rat 2 is an absolute powerhouse of a pedal and has quickly become a staple in my rig. What sets it apart from other distortion pedals is the way it handles hard clipping—it’s aggressive but controlled, giving you that sharp, biting distortion that feels almost alive. I’ve tried it with a clean amp, and the range it offers is amazing, from a smooth overdrive to an absolutely snarling fuzz. It doesn’t just stop at one sound; it covers everything from hard rock crunch to full-on grunge and shoegaze.
One thing I love about this pedal is how versatile it is, yet it retains a unique character no matter how you dial it in. The tone control is definitely sensitive, and there’s a wide range of sound depending on where you set it. While at the extremes it can be a little too much—either muffled or too piercing—you can find a perfect sweet spot right around the middle. I’ve found that at noon, the sound is just right for most situations, but I enjoy pushing it a little higher for solos.
Paired with my Vox AC15, it feels like the perfect match. The Rat 2 adds a whole new layer to the classic Vox sound, giving me the crunch I need for heavy riffs and soaring leads without sacrificing clarity. It does color the sound depending on how much gain you’re using, but that adds a nice depth to my tone, especially when combined with P90 pickups.
Surprisingly, the pedal is quiet for the amount of distortion it pumps out. I was expecting more noise, especially at higher gain levels, but it’s shockingly clean in operation, which is a huge plus. Also, the build quality is rock-solid—this thing feels indestructible.
For the price, it’s a steal. I’ve used more expensive distortion pedals, but none of them have the same raw edge and versatility that the Rat 2 delivers. It’s hard to believe you can get this much quality in such an affordable pedal. If you’re looking for a distortion that can cover a wide tonal range, from crunchy blues to heavy metal, the ProCo Rat 2 is a no-brainer.

Odotuksia
Odotin laitteelta hieman enemmän. Simppeli käyttää ja soundin saa helposti ruuvattua sopivaksi, mutta tuntuu ettei väliasennoissa tapahdu juuri mitään soundin erottelemiseksi. isoilla volumeilla äkäisten kitaramikkien kanssa ääni puuroutuu/ tai on ohuehko . Laite on todella tukeva ja kestävänoloinen...

Kaikkien ylistämä säröpedaali
Ei moitittavaa, kaikki arvostelut pitävät paikkansa. Pedaalista saa väännettyä lievän overdriven tai vääntää gainin maksimiin, jolloin päästään melkein Fuzzin tasoiseen särinään.
Väitteitä Rat:in olevan markkinoiden paras säröpedaali ei voi kiistää!

Simple but versatile!
I try to make this short. I have been playing guitar 20 years , producing music 5 years and played synthesizers 5 years.
I mainly bought this for Synth use but tried it with guitar + Cali 76 and holy crap! Sound was so good.
Pros: Filter sounded warm but dark.
Distortion could be anything mellow to absolute clipping trash in a good way.
Sound was suberb. Especially with acid basslines but allso with guitar.
Solid heavy case
Cons: that price . none

One of the best
There have been Rats for decades, and you can see them anywhere from doom/noise rigs to church musicians' pedalboards. Looks cool, built like a metal fortress, doesn't have too many knobs but enough to make it fit various genres and contexts. May sound "scooped" to some people, but this to me is something fixed with minor EQ adjustments anywhere in the chain, really. Perhaps due to its relative simplicity it plays quite nice with other effects - reverb+Rat is nice, and leading into it with a tube screamer is a classic. A great addition to almost anyone's dirt pedal arsenal.

Jeff Beck on kuulemma käyttänyt ProCo Rattia guitar shop-levyn aikoihin. Omalaatuinen soundi on tässä. Omasta mielestä ei toimi kaikkien vahvistimien kanssa. Modatun Peavy classic 50:n kanssa toimii. Siinä on kaiuttimina Celestionin G12H:t.

Solid build quality and good sound
Good for distorting drum-machine drums. Can add everything from a small amount of crispiness to total squashed distortion. A bit noisy with a generic adjustable voltage ac-adapter (probably it's the adapter). Less noisy with an ac-adapter designed for effect pedals..

Minulle sopiva distortio
Käytän pedaalia enimmäkseen metalli sävyn luomiseen, ja usein sooloja soittaessani. Sopii oivallisesti minun käyttötarkoituksiini ja olen ollut tuotteeseen tyytyväinen.
