Much better than Disting Ex

Disting NT is a much better module in every way than Disting Ex (I can't stand the latter).

The interface is still horrible and takes some getting used to, but the large screen allows you to see the whole menu, so there's a pretty good chance of figuring out what algorithms are doing when Disting Ex required mandatory documentation browsing.

The architecture of the module is amazing. With Disting Ex, the possibilities were limited to a single selected algorithm, here the module is essentially a set of buses to which multiple basic algorithms can be applied in any order. The buses are visible on external devices, so the module can work as an audio interface.

It also has a simple and clear API, so that if necessary (and feasible) you can add functionality that is missing in the module.

Disting NT could have a better interface, some algorithms could have a simpler implementation, but all can be forgiven for its versatility. Also Expert Sleepers modules have long and good support, there is an API that will allow you to add necessary functions, all in all, this module is definitely worth it.

Ich habe nach einer Verkleinerung meines Modularsystems auf 104 TE dieses Modul als Alleskönner angeschafft um Funktionen abzudecken, die ich nicht als einzelne Module unterkriege.

Die Bedienung ist alles andere als Knob per Function, geht allerdings dafür noch relativ flüssig von der Hand. Live einen Filter drehen oder den Mix ändern ist jedoch kaum drin. Dafür nutze ich in Verbindung mit dem FH2 ebenfalls von Expert Sleepers und der Möglichkeit die beiden Module direkt über MIDI zu koppeln dann ein Launch Control XL, welches bequem zu fast allen Parametern zugewiesen werden kann. Die MIDI Verbindung ermöglicht zusätzlich noch polyphones Spielen der verschiedenen Klangerzeuger des NT (bspw Rings, Braids oder Wavetable Algorithmus).

Aktuell nutze ich 6 Eingänge mit dem Stereo Mixer Algorithmus für das gesamte System, Output 7 und 8 über das mitgelieferte Tiny MIDI Breakout als Master Ausgänge, ein Output für Clock Ausgabe, den VCF Algorithmus mit einem Input für Modulation der Filterfrequenz für eine Synth Stimme meines Systems und den „Kirbinator“ als Ersatz für den Qu Bit Data Bender.

Mit der Zeit sollen noch alle bisherigen Disting Algorithmen nachgeliefert werden. Vor einiger Zeit kam bereits der „Three Pot“ Algorithmus hinzu, der DSP Effekte a la FX Aid oder Multi FX importieren kann.

Mit dem nächsten Firmware Update soll zudem noch eine API implementiert werden, mit der eigene Algorithmen geschrieben werden können. Der Entwickler reagiert auch generell in fast sämtlichen Foren schnell auf Feedback und Fragen.

Bin alles in allem aktuell schon sehr zufrieden mit dem Modul und gespannt was noch alles möglich sein wird.
