Great case if you're over 6ft tall
Seamus4444 06.02.2026
I bought the large Megarack, and it arrived from Thomann without a scratch. The box it came in was big enough to live in, and if you have a partner there's another one inside. The boards are all placed in the centre of the case so each end becomes a long reach for the standard length power cable. The power slots would have been much better placed if they had been spaced out more on a longer board. I had to buy quite a lot of longer power cables to reach the power board from the edges without stretching the standard cables. The rails are the fixed type with threaded holes, and I would have preferred sliding nuts because it's far more difficult to move modules around in a fixed rail system. There are no fans in the case, but even with the rack full I haven't had any temperature problems because there is plenty of ventilation. I have noticed that there doesn't seem to be any internal fuses and that concerns me if I have any incidents in the future. 5v is catered for by a tiny board that uses up one of the power sockets, but I avoid 5v modules and haven't had to use it. In any case the loss of one socket would be inconsequential because there are plenty of sockets. When I finished my build I switched it on and it lit up like a Christmas tree. No power problems, no glitches. In short, I'm happy with the case. It looks great, it's stable, it has a reasonably small footprint, and it's huge! One more tiny niggle, if you're fitting modules near the top you need to support the back with you're free hand, because the pressure applied when plugging modules in is enough to push the whole rack backward...
