If there we're any other option available, I'd most definitely recommend it.
This piece doesn't have any king of dampening on it's sides and it will create some wear in to your Pioneer unit eventually.
The fit is almost perfect but doesn't manage to fully get in there.
By adding some dampening material onto it, this piece will do it's work and can be used as a protection for your unit.
